I would like to call all the antigue card owners and fans, this post is for you guys. I had a first experience of also been in the once a year RACV Great Australian Rally thru the peninsula. I had a great time also been a fan of some of does cars I saw there, just wished I had my cheque book and a big enought garage to fit them in :). This anual event has grown to become one of Victoria’s largest veteran, vintage and classy rally which they travel from Melbourne to Mornington Peninsula. Great support and supponser by RACV, this rally is designed to help promote this classic cars and also help found the for a great cause (Peter MacCallum Cancer centre). This year there were a few stars locations - Melbourne, Stud Park, Rowville, Western Port Marina, Hastings.

Fishing is one of the hobbies in the peninsula. Well lots of people will take fishing more serious I personally just only started. My first day I was at Mornington Pier with a couple friends thought to be a good day out and try something different. With half hour gone I got my first really taste of fishing i cort my first fish only to loose it once I just got out of water! I was a bit desapointed but at the same time very excited I almost cort something even so we were there for a few hours and we didnt catch anything but the experience was just as good as catching a fish :). I was so excited we decide to try next day but a diffrent spot then again came home with emmpty hands but still hasen’t put me off from fishing. Its so amazing to see people down the Mornington Pier fishing a lot of them treat that as a day out with there family.

Once Breakfast is digested you can enjoy a brisk walk around the lake to enjoy the surrounds and tranquility. As for a night out in Daylesford well there’s a few places where you can have a meal and a drink but I must say D’Bar Club Smooth live jazz Friday nights from 7.30pm; Club night with special DJ acts Saturday nights from 10.30pm.Open fire, delightful ambiance, modern bar, cosy all weather balcony and great views. For your local takeaway I would say Jasmine Thai Great Food one of the best Thai’s I ever had! some mite not agree but that was I experience for takeaway. Daylesford has a bit for every one if you into Chocolates they have a great place they do Amanzing Chocolates, Art, Fashion, Restaurants, Etc.

Once again we are back with the ins and outs of adventures!

Well what can I say, it was the first Cirque Du Soleil (Dralion) that we have seen.  What a spectacular experience.  We actually were intending to see Cirque du Soleil O in Vegas but unfortunately we could not get tickets on the spot, I definitely recommend that if you are thinking of traveling to Vegas and want to see O (can only be seen in Vegas) to book well in advance so that you don’t miss out.

Back to Dralion, we had a  great night out in town. Dralion is performed under the big top tent and was absolutely fantastic.  The show has so many mind blowing elements that just can not be described without going to see the show.  There were a team of trampolinist, diving off extreme heights and bouncing back.  Stunning and incredibly strong contortionist bending their bodies like rubber along with many other edge of the seat acts.  Its a bit of a bummer but you can not take photos of the show - however you can view some here Black shadow Photography

Of course we followed the show with  dinner in the docklands (so many places to choose from) and hit Crown Casino after for a bit of a flutter.

Mornington Peninsula has the prestige to have Silver Circus in Town for Summer School Holidays. One of many things the Peninsula has to offer around here and also keeping the kids entertained. One of Australians well established Circus and grown to Silver Magic Circus Shows, has been around since 1976 also in 1992 was voted one of the ten circuses in world with artists from all around the world. Silver Circus has lots of shows to offer and keep you intertained for a couple hours or more, my favourite was the Flying Warriors. My nieces and newfews were in heaven once they got to go and see the experience acts and such a wonderfull show to see.

The bill is headed up by power duo The Presets. They swept the Aria Awards with their acclaimed second album Apocalpso, and were recently crowned “Best Festival Act in Australia”. Groomingdale’s boutique Mt Martha is luxury grooming for your pooches. We sent our very scruffy looking puppy (Mojo) for her first treatment and she came back looking like a celebrity puppy. Upon arrival Mojo was treated to a puppachino served in a ceramic dish making her feel completely relaxed and ready for her treatment.

Being her first grooming experience we were a little apprehensive to leave her and not too sure if she would be very happy with us on picking her up. However we had the time to have a coffee whilst Phyliss worked her magic. I don’t think Mojo wanted to leave Groomingdale’s when we returned – she was in puppy bliss.

Our little puppy (Mojo) of only 6 months of age had a nasty accident recently which resulted in a badly broken leg. She was immediately taken to our local vet, where they sedated her and bandaged the leg. After the night at the vet we had been advised to take her to The Animal Surgery Centre where she would need an operation to be carried out by a specialist. The surgery is one of only very few in Australia that perform such operations. All was quite a shock to us but with out thinking twice we agreed to go ahead with the surgical procedure, of course you only want the best for your dog as they are part of the family!!

On arrival at the Surgery in rather a state, the staff were very understanding and most helpful. Along with a few other dog owners we were attended to immediately. They informed us entirely of the procedure and the expectations to follow after the operation.

The type of break to the bone meant that she would require a plate and pins in her leg for the rest of her life. This sort of surgery came with great cost; however they took great care of our puppy and communicated with us at each step of the process. Complete professionals with great experience and qualifications. At no point was Mojo in pain or discomfort and had the attention of the staff 100%. It’s very relieving to know that your puppy is in such good hands during a very stressful time.

The operation was performed the same day but Mojo was required to stay overnight for observations. We were then able to collect her the next day and take her home. After eight weeks we were required to take Mojo back to see her progress. On return to the surgery we had great news of a very successful recovery and healing.

We wish to thank the team at Animal surgery Centre for their wonderful work on Mojo. She is now completely recovered and very active with a fully fixed leg.

January 24, 2007—It’s summer down under, and at many Australian beaches the sands have turned as blue as the water.

Huge armadas of toxic bluebottle jellyfish are swamping Australia’s east coast in record numbers, putting the sting on peak beach season.

More than 30,000 people were stung by the translucent blue jellies on this coast last year—more than twice the number of incidents in 2005—according to Australia’s lifeguard group, Surf Life Saving (SLS).

In Australia and New Zealand, this jellyfish is known as the blue bottle, due to its colour and shape when strewn on a beach. Elsewhere in the world it is known as the “Portuguese Man o War” as it is said to look like a Portuguese battleship with a sail.

This jellyfish is actually made up of zooids. The blue bottle is not a single organism, but made up of a number of zooids. Each zooid has a specific role and together they function as if it were an animal. For example a number of zooids will make up the stinging tentacles, others will make up the feeding tentacles, etcetera.

The blue bottle feeds on small fish and other small ocean creatures. They envelope their prey with their tentacles, where a poison is released thus paralysing its prey before being consumed. The tentacles adhere extremely well to their prey. If a tentacle is put under the microscope you will see that it looks like a long string of barbed hooks, which explains the ability of the tentacle to attach.

If a tentacle attaches itself to a human, it releases a poison (through the use of nematocysts), and if you continue to rub the skin after the tentacle has been removed more poison or venom will be released. If you are stung, it is best to wash the area without touching. A cold pack should be used to relieve the pain. If stung, please consult a doctor immediately. No fatalities have ever been reported within Australia or New Zealand from the sting of a blue bottle.

The blue bottles colour can range from a blue to a pink hue, with a transluscent body. The float or body of the blue bottle measures between 3 to 15 cms. The tentacles can range in length from 15 cms up to 10 metres!.
